This is where you learn the basic navigation rules for a boat licence and how to stay safe on the water in the comfort of your own home. There is a fair bit of content to cover to get your Boat and Jetski Licence (approx 4-5 hours), but is necessary to keep safe on the water. Jetski licence only theory is only 1 hour.
Once your online theory is completed, you come to our waterfront training facility and we help you apply the things you learnt online into the real-life setting of the Gold Coast.
We also show you how to make driving Boats and Jetskis easy, fun and less expensive . Your safety is our priority!
While at our facility, after we have shown you a thing or two, you get to show off what you have learnt! If you are safe doing so, you walk away with a boat and or jetski licence. It is that simple!

Getting your Boat and Jetski licence can be easy for some and difficult for others. Some pick it up quickly and some need extra time to ensure they know how to operate a Boat and Jetski safely. We tailor our courses to each student, so if you need help with the basics then that’s what we will provide you with. Our Boat and Jetski Licence training and assessment is based at Jacobs Well in the Marine Rescue Qld (was VMR) Jacobs Well building (Next to Jacobs Well Boat Ramp and Calypso Bay).
Successful students will receive a statement of competency valid for six months that Transport and Main Roads Queensland (TMR) will accept and issue you the official Qld Boat Licence (RMDL) and/or Qld Jetski (PWC) Licence. These licences operate independently to your Qld drivers licence, so if you do not have a drivers licence, alternate identification will be required. Please call Aussie for any questions regarding literacy and numeracy issues when obtaining a Qld maritime licence.
Courses are conducted in our air-conditioned training rooms at Jacobs Well on the northern Gold Coast.
We offer Boat and Jetski Licences and our other services everyday of the week. We can also start at non prescribed times to ensure you have the time to get your licence before or after work on a weekday.
Southeast Queensland can get very busy on the water, and there are alot of people out on the water that have no idea about the rules and any care about your safety when trying to get your licence. This is why we operate in calm waterways away from the large crowds.
Getting your licence requires you to be on board a vessel for a couple hours or more. In direct sunlight, this can be draining on your energy, mindset and can harm your skin via sunburn. Due to this, we invest in our equipment to protect you the best we can by installing fully custom made shade on all Boats.
You might be nervous, anxious or even scared to get on the water and be assessed on how well you perform. We get alot of people that come to us that feel this way, it is normal. Know that you are in good hands, we will work at your pace to make esure you walk away safe, skilled and confident to get out on the water.
Please let us know prior how you are feeling, or even at the time of booking so that we can ensure that you are given teh best service possible on the day.
We charge you the full amount, we do not believe it is fair to sting you with a fee on the day you were not told about.
Outside of our cost, you will require an administration fee at TMR (Queensland Transport) when your licence is issued to you. This is outside our control and is a costs incurred regardless of where you go to get your Boat and/or Jetski Licence.
Large groups make it hard to learn, we all get nervous when it comes to trying something new or trying to pass an exam. We get that, so we keep our class sizes from 2-4 people. We can cater to larger group sizes, but this is something we discuss and plan for group bookings that want to do it with their friends and family.
We cater to your experience level. If you’re a beginner we will instill foundational skills in you, if you are experienced we will refine your technique and show you some more advanced skills.
